Zen Center of Nyc

The Zen Center of New York City: Fire Lotus Temple is the city branch of Zen Mountain Monastery, the main house of the Mountains and Rivers Order. Supporting home practitioners in the metropolitan area, ZCNYC offers varied practice opportunities within the Eight Gates training matrix. Newcomers are invited to attend the beginning instruction in zazen that follows the Sunday morning service each week.

Please make your first visit to Zen Center of New York City on a Sunday morning. Each Sunday from 9:30 to 12:30 we offer a program that includes liturgy, beginning instruction in zazen (Zen meditation), zazen, and a talk by the teacher or senior MRO student. The Sunday morning program will introduce you to the practice of Zen and give you a feeling for how we train in the MRO. We ask that you stay for the duration of the program.

Once you have come for our Sunday Program and have received beginning instruction in zazen, you are welcome and encouraged to join us for zazen and liturgy throughout the week.
